In Hollywood, a call sheet is relatively standardized. In India, however, the document must account for a complex ecosystem of labor unions, diverse catering requirements, and the logistical nightmare of urban traffic.
The Essential Components
- The Header: Beyond the film title and date, it must clearly state the Production Code and the Unit Number (essential for massive projects like Jawan 2 or regional epics).
- Call Times vs. Ready Times: Indian sets often differentiate between "Unit Base" (when the crew arrives at the base camp) and "Ready on Set."
- The "Bata" Section: A critical Indian-specific element. Bata refers to daily cash allowances for food or conveyance, often categorized by the crew member's grade (e.g., Technical, Junior Artist, or Unit Hand).
- VVIP/Talent Logistics: Logistics for vanity vans, security detail, and "Personal Staff" (often numbering 5–10 per lead actor) must be explicitly mapped.
